The Golf Club At Star Ranch is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Hutto, Texas.
The Star Ranch Golf Course opened for play in 2001. The course was designed by Carter Morrish, Roy Bechtol and Randy Russell
Star Ranch is located on former cattle land in central Texas. This par 71 course measures 7,030 yards from the tips and offers four sets of tees to challenge golfers of all skill levels. Water comes into play on seven holes. This links/traceland styled course has rolling, tree-lined fairways and mid-sized, undulating greens that roll quite fast.

Good course for the price.

The course is in excellent condition and the greens which are well guarded with sand traps run true. The first time that I played it, after hitting several traps, I looked up and threatened Arnie with "if I hit one more trap I'm not using Penzoil anymore and I'm selling my 8N." It worked, did not hit another one all day...

The Golf Club at Star Ranch is a great overall facility and is always in good playing condition. It is also a good value when compared to similar facilities in the area. The course is playable for all levels of golfer, the paractice areas are top notch, and the staff is very friendly and helpful.

The Golf Club At Star Ranch was a real treat. Recently a group of friends and I played 4 area courses in a 36 hole a day tournament, this was by far the best facility for the price.
I have played the course before in scrambles and was always pleased with the condition of the course, especially the greens. They may be the best in the area. We played one round from the blue tees and one from the black. The challenge increases dramatically. This may be as much golf course as you want given your skill set.
Even though the course was crowded the play moved along very smoothly because of the efficiency of the Marshalls. The practice facility, full bar, and gracious personnel give you the feeling of a private club. While I was there I joined the Star Players Club it is a great value.

It is the layout in conjuction with the tees. The high handicapper can have fun, but be challenged by the forward tees. The accomplished golfer can play the tips and get all that he has bargained for. The approach shot and greens (which roll true) make this a challenging golf course. A few holes could use more asthetics, but then again, a 445 yard uphill par 4, should keep you focused on your golf, not the scenery. Clubhouse is nice. Course works great for tournaments, a tribute to the staff and layout. I hadn't been there for a year and was amased at the new driving range, or should I say, Professional Practice area (greens, traps, targets and ample range to hit the driver). which is worth a trip alone.

I have always found the staff helpful, the facilities are top notch, it is definately the best tournament facility in central texas! The addition of the banquet facility and additional pavillion make it suitable for even the largest tournament or gathering. I have found the course to be better shape all times of the year than any in the surrounding area.

The layout of the course makes it playable for any level of player. I enjoy the generous fairways accompanied by the need for precision on your approach to the green. The greens roll pure which gives a good putter a really good chance to go low. The staff is always helpful and want to create an experience that will be enjoyable. I strongly recommend Star Ranch and it is now my golf course of choice in the greater Austin area. The drive from central Austin is well worth it!

Played on New Year's Day 2009; the greens were in excellent shape, and I found the $65 all inclusive fee (including range balls, cart, and buffet) very reasonable for a holiday/weekend rate. The course would be greatly helped by more yardage indicators; I can understand not going with GPS in the carts, but it's annoying that they haven't made any adjustments to compensate for it.

Staff could be more accomodating. On Course restrooms out of order. Food Buffet (included in the fee) was not ready for golfers in the morning.

This course used to be top notch and it had GPS on the carts so I did not mind the price. The course is not at the level as in the past. Greens fees should come down at least $10 accross the board.

This course has always been in great shape every time I played it. The greens will sneak up on you if you do not watch the speed. There are several holes where the player can take a chance and be rewarded or suffer the consequences. While it looks wide open I suggest you play it a few times to learn the goods and the problems that can occur.
